This video was fun. I wanted to celebrate the holidays in a special kinda way. The Little Drummer Boy was what I cam up with. I grabbed my TAMA Snare and my sticks and decided to just roll film and play. This is what came out. This video has had the most views of any video I’ve ever done, over 20,000. Enjoy.

A new year is well underway and I’ve been working on a few things. I am tracing several songs for a project with Gary Schutt in Tampa Florida. I think it’s going to be called the Cover Band Allstars. He’s gotten several excellent singers and musicians to collaborate on this project recreating some of the classic rock and roll songs we all know and love, like Keep on Rollin’ by REO or Smoking by Boston. The singers nail the vocals as well as Gary playing mostly everything. I am honored to be a part of this and am having a blast recording these tunes.I will post a few of them on my site when they’re OK’d by Gary.

I’m also gearing up for a trip to Florida to host a master class at the SFCPA South Florida Center for Percussive Arts,Miami, FL. Tentative appearance by Scott Johnson. I will update this page as I know more.

There are tracks being recorded and drop boxed throughout the US. That’s right, Drumman studios is in full swing. I have a few recording projects in house and they are all turning out to be a blast. First off, I’ve completed several tracks for WTF in Las Vegas with Gary Curto. After working with “G” for the better part of a year, this project is now in its final stages. I am very proud to have the song that I wrote for my daughter entitled Country Home included on his upcoming release. Next up, Allison Mullins from Oklahoma, a fantastic vocalist, is in the beginning stages of her project with David Outon. So far the first 3 tracks I’ve received have been very different. She knows what she wants and I think it will turn out great. Drums are sounding great for this one as well. Last but not least,  I’m also tracking background drums for a pet training company video.

So yes I’ve been very busy creating and laying down the groove. Check back zoo for the next podcast update. (Hoping to get the new HD 4 camera set up soon.)

Ok folks there’s lots of people that love drums. Lots of people who play drums. But what about those who want to learn to play drums? I will be creating a new series of podcasts for the beginning drummer. If you’ve never picked up a drum stick or you just want to learn drums from the beginning, be on the lookout for Drumman 101. I’ll be using the Vic Firth Fresh Approach Starter Pack (FASP). You can get yours from LoneStar Percussion, http://www.lonestarpercussion.com/Sticks-Mallets/Stick-Mallet-Bundles/Vic-Firth-FASP.html

Currently recording tracks for the Gary Curto project. Tunes have kind of a country/bluegrass feel. I am excited to have my song, Country Home, be a part of this project. I wrote this song about the move to West Virginia and it is dedicated to my awesome daughter, Hope. Can’t wait to hear the final mix.

The podcasts are going well. Up to number four now. I’m going to try to set a schedule of 2 per month coming out every other Sunday, we’ll see how that goes.

The first podcast is done and what a blast it was. A lot of work but fun too. It address some soloing ideas and things to think about while soloing. I have the talking part of the next three recorded so the next step is to track the drums. If you have a request, let me know by submitting it thru the podcast request page on this site.

I just received a full set of Zildjian A Custom cymbals to use for the upcoming videos. They sound sweet. I’m also refining the tracks for Gary Curto’s project. He is in the studio in Las Vegas now in the beginning stages of putting everything together. I think he will be using my original song, Country Home, the song I wrote with my daughter in mind when we relocated to Morgantown, WV in 2011.

I am currently recording tracks for Gary Curto’s upcoming cd. This project is especially fun because we are over 1000 miles apart. He is in Las Vegas and I am in West Virginia. We are drop boxing the protools files back and forth. I will be posting some rough mixes when the are ready, (and when I get permission). Stay tuned.
The studio sound is tweaked, and the first stages of video production are underway. I will be doing a three camera shoot in the near future demonstrating how to relax while playing drums. No need to work you’re ass off to sound good. Let the drums sing. Let the notes come out without trying to force anything. Anytime you force music, it sounds like it. More soon…
